Assurance of Salvation (with Supporting Comments)

May 5, 2004, my 65th birthday, another day the Lord did not promised me, but a day He made for me to rejoice and be glad in it as in Psalm 118:24.

Recently I was struck by a remark made by a ‘youth minister’ that most of the ‘teens’ he counsels feel ‘they have lost their salvation.’

Thus this devotional is concerning:

Assurance of Salvation, Once saved-Always saved!

(This is a long and detailed devotional. The first 12 pages are my thoughts, and the rest is some things I took from Charles Stanley’s In Touch website that I felt would give you more good reference.)

I do not believe a person who ‘is saved’ can then ‘lose their salvation.’ I believe the strongest link is when ‘we are saved,’ and that ‘nothing,’ not even the fiends of hell can break that link with us ‘in Christ.’

I do believe a ‘believer’ can ‘break his or her fellowship (relationship) with the Lord by sinning against Him, (and yes, even believers sin), but that fellowship can be restored by ‘repenting and confessing’ and our fellowship or relationship is immediately restored! (1 John 1:8-10)

But, once given and received, our Salvation in Christ is eternally secure!

I believe a ‘believer’ can live a ‘defeated Christian life’ and still ‘be saved eternally.’
