Sometimes when I read a devotional, it seems written “just for me.” This one really spoke to my heart!
As we see all the “events” around us, at my age now 64, witnessing the world exponentially experience more and more tragedy and sorrow, more evil, more killing, more disease, more starvation,—–in spite of all the technological advances made by mankind—-our treatment and tolerance of others, our “human rights” are still being trampled, and people being treated as “collateral damage” all over—-children starving, sick, and also being exploited and ravished by predators———unless we are blind, we see that “mankind” is not the answer.
As more and more of my contemporaries, my friends and acquaintances are dying——and I face my own mortality, though personally I have settled the opening question in the title above, so many I know personally have not——-and my heart is troubled.

First, let me digress from the stated theme of this devotional and preface it with something I feel is so very important, and has helped me to “understand” or “realize” more of this unique relationship with Him that He has provided.
To me, “logos”, the revealed word of God, is of Him revealing Himself, and dealing with His creation (not as some seem to think, about how man deals with or seeks God, which we do not do without the mystery of His selection or provision). We are so fortunate in that we have the completed revelations to study and use as our authoritative guide, “All scripture is inspired by God, and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness–”. As God revealed Himself, His very name revealed His substance and essence, and was so significant to that very situation, provisionally. I’m not saying we have “homogenized” His person, and in any way diluted His substance and essence (we cannot add to or take away from Him, for He is God!), but in translation, it seems we have maybe “not kept” some real personal insight into Him—that He wanted revealed—that is important. I hope when you approach His throne of grace and mercy in prayer, to worship Him, that these more intimate revelations of His name will allow you a more intimate personal relationship with Him, and are edifying to you.

Of course, tremendous things “did happen” there on that day “in the fullness of time”—-however, it is extremely interesting to note that there were things that “did not happen.”
These things, just as the others, were under the supreme control of God. Lets look at some of them.
1. No fault was found
2. The title was not changed
3. The tunic that could not be torn
4. The sun that did not shine
5. The legs that were not broken
6. The burial that did not happen
7. The tomb that was not secure
Seven huge “non-events”———further proof that God is Sovereign, and that Jesus Christ, was His Son, and sent to die for us on the Cross. And, nothing Satan could do, could alter it, or change it.

Peace with God underlies all peace—–and without it, there is no true internal peace and tranquility that can allow us to have peace even over riding all circumstances—-eternal peace.
All across the world, there are people living in fear and doubt—–concerning this extreme sin, the unpardonable sin, and its damnation eternally as the consequence——even believing they may have committed it as outlined in Matthew 12:30-32. He who is not with Me, is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters. Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shalt not be forgiven. Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or the age to come.
