The Power of Persistence

Persistence is an “attitude.” It is the “capacity” to continue “on course” in the face of difficulties, obstacles, and discouragement——and refusing to quit or to give up!

Motivation: The thing that determines the strength of our (my) persistence is the value we (I) place on our (my) goals!

What makes persistence so important——why is it so vital?!

Because defeat, failures, and delays are an inevitable part of our lives——and if I do not understand “how to deal with those things”——-then, “I’ll just give up!”

So, persistence allows me to continue and to “not give up!”

Abortion – Does Life Begin at Conception?

Published by Cowboy Bill Watts under Abortion

In reference to abortion

My response to a sister in Christ—-who asked me about this,

In reference to your question about abortion—and more deeply about “does life begin with conception or birth?” Thank you for your interest and your question. This is a very controversial issue, and certainly should not be–at least for a true believer, a follower of Christ!

And, let me begin and end this with my own confession——–that I have been a “willing participant” in this heinous sin, this abomination against God———abortion! First, in my youth, I was “living in sin” with a woman to whom I was not married——-and when she became pregnant——–I told her we needed to “get rid of her pregnancy” because I was not ready to “father another child” (as I had my son from my previous marriage, and his mother’s pregnancy is what I based my decision on back then to “get married” as “the right thing to do”——-and that marriage failed, because “neither of us” honored God, or His blessing on our lives the son He gave us,)———-so certainly, in the delusion of my selfish sin, I did not want to begin another “marriage because of pregnancy!”

So, in my case, sin lead to more sin—-first “living in sin, unmarried, and second, the abortion when she became pregnant!! And in this sin, I “lead the way” to murder an unborn child, by abortion! And back then, in the 60’s since abortion was illegal, it was a horrendous experience, in which we traveled to Washington DC, and she went to a horrible place, and we paid the money, and the lady inserted a “coat hanger” into her womb, and told us to drive around until she “aborted” and then to come back to her house. So, we eventually went to see a movie——-The Pink Panther Returns——and sat there while that horrible event was progressing! When finally it penetrated, and she started hemorrhaging, we went back to that horrible house, and they “did something” to stop the bleeding, saying the abortion was completed, and we then traveled back to New Jersey, where we were living. But, the bleeding increased, and finally we took her to a doctor for help, and he had to do a surgical procedure called a D&C then to stop the bleeding (she almost died) and get her on the path to healing. She said he told her it was twins!!

Unshakable Faith

Published by Cowboy Bill Watts under Faith

This morning as I spent my quiet time in the word of God, the Bible, and also read a devotional from In Touch, the ministry by Charles Stanley, with the above title, I was so filled by it, that I knew I must write to share this with you.

See, I am in the autumn of my life——-and each day I awake, I first give thanks to my Lord for another day “that I was not promised” here on earth. For, only He knows the number of my days, and I do not know the length, nor can add one second to my life—but sometimes we do not reflect upon that, as we “take for granted our health, and our life”——-and especially, when I was younger, and in the fullness of my youthful strength and vitality, I did not consider just that blessing, and that only God, who breathed life into me, is also in control of all aspects of my life.

But now, as I age, and especially, see dear friends of mine, friends from my youth, lasting friendships——-and watch them age too——-and some of them become afflicted with illness—–critical illness——-and fight just to live——-and some, down deep in their hearts, knowing they are slowly losing that precious battle—-certainly is a reminder that “I” am not “in control” of my life or longevity.

God’s Blessing America, How Long Can It Last?

Last week, I sent out an email to those of you whom I love and care about, of things on my heart about our nation, and our laws, and our highest courts recent rulings, which I believe are against God’s precepts. Maybe, it read too harsh for you. But, to me, the consequences are worst. And at 64 years of age, I have witnessed, and yes, sorry to say, have participated personally in the destructive path we are on that has gained such speed and momentum——-and is against God, and His precepts. I can see the dramatic differences. And so can any of you who are near my age. The question is, do you believe God allows this? Do you believe we have a national or corporate responsibility toward God——–do you believe we have a personal responsibility toward God?
