Question — how does this strike you — Tulsa — Zoning for (49 ft. tall) Buddhist statue OK’d

Question — how does this strike you — Tulsa — Zoning for (49 ft. tall) Buddhist statue OK’d — Tulsa World story below these comments of mine…

If we ‘truly believe the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God’… and is ‘infallible’… (God’s word is true…though often the ‘exceptions’ are for our interpretation of it)… so personally…I feel every bit of the Bible has meaning for us…and reveals the heart of God to us…

2 Tim 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;
17 that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
NASB
But in it too … we read so much of Israel’s Old Testament history…of their ‘turning their back on God’… and always in that…was ‘their embracing of idols’…and ‘idol worship’…

and ‘spiritually’… as in this first Scripture reference…Egypt is always ‘associated with darkness’ and an ‘enemy of Israel…and of God’… and God calls their ‘abomination’ their idols… Continue Reading »

False Teachers: “They weave the spider’s web.” Isaiah 59:5

Please enjoy Spurgeon’s devotional on this… but be warned… in me…and my comments following it… this also triggered very ‘deep-felt editorializing’… so… when you read it… and see my emotions… please just sift it and allow what you will to stimulate your own search for God’s truth…I am a sinner … saved by grace… and totally without merit for His love or salvation! Thus… I am NOT anyone’s authority on Christ…merely try to be ‘His vessel in this’… but may at times… be so human in feelings…

“They weave the spider’s web.” Isaiah 59:5

Today’s above Scripture reference (from the KJV) expanded for context and taken from the New American Standard Translation for contrast:

Isa 59:4-6 ……They trust in confusion, and speak lies; They conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
5 They hatch adders’ eggs and weave the spider’s web; He who eats of their eggs dies, And from that which is crushed a snake breaks forth.
6 Their webs will not become clothing, Nor will they cover themselves with their works; Their works are works of iniquity, ….

We have an enemy… a supernatural enemy…

August 7th Devotional: We have an enemy… a supernatural enemy…

“Satan hindered us.” 1 Thessalonians 2:18

Today’s above Scripture reference (from the KJV) expanded for context and taken from the New American Standard Translation for contrast:

1 Thess 2:11-12
1 just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and imploring each one of you as a father would his own children,
12 so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.
1 Thess 2:14-18
4 For you, brethren, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea, for you also endured the same sufferings at the hands of your own countrymen, even as they did from the Jews,
15 who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out. They are not pleasing to God, but hostile to all men,
16 hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they might be saved; with the result that they always fill up the measure of their sins. But wrath has come upon them to the utmost.
17 But we, brethren, having been bereft of you for a short while —  in person, not in spirit —  were all the more eager with great desire to see your face.
18 For we wanted to come to you —  I, Paul, more than once —  and yet Satan thwarted us.

And now… written by a man of God —
Charles Spurgeon — who wrote this over 115 years ago in England …but his illumination of the Scriptures are still so relevant even today…as God’s word never changes…and this only shows again that His Holy Spirit…who has illuminated His word to saints preceding us…is also faithful to do so for us…if we will but search His word diligently…

Know the Enemy – Pt 1 – Word Pictures are Powerful

In keeping with the power of words to form a picture in our minds—–Scripture has some distinctive and descriptive phrases concerning the spiritual or ‘supernatural war’ in which each believer is engaged—-whether or not we realize it or want to acknowledge it. (Certainly Satan, the great deceiver, would not want us to ‘realize’ or acknowledge that we are in a war with him—-or to get a true picture of him without it being diluted or even made less threatening—even denied. He would love us to think of him as a ‘harmless’ myth or legend, or some cartoon-like character instead of a supernatural evil.)

But, here is the Bible’s word picture of this war:
